Our Story

Three names.One table.

A South Bay restaurant family, a winemaker with a storytelling habit, and the neighborhood that keeps both honest.

Chapter I — Simms

The restaurantsyou already love.

Simms Restaurants has spent decades doing one thing in the South Bay: serving happiness. Ten restaurants — from MB Post’s social house and Fishing with Dynamite’s raw bar to The Arthur J’s steaks, RYLA, AttaGirl, Tin Roof Bistro, and every Simmzy’s in between — each with its own personality, all with the same instinct for hospitality.

The Wine Club is that instinct, formalized. Not a new venture bolted on — the same people, the same rooms, one more way to say we know you.

Chapter II — Gestalt × Dave Phinney

A winemaker witha storytelling habit.

Dave Phinney created The Prisoner and Orin Swift Cellars; Robert Parker called him “one of the most talented winemakers of our time.” As Creative Director of Gestalt Wine Company, he makes our wines — and he makes them about something.

Gestalt treats wine as a medium for telling stories, provoking thought, and sparking connection. Every release is a complete thought — the wine, the label, the packaging, sometimes a zine — designed as one experience. That’s why our bottles have names like Broken Swallowtail and Safe Word instead of pretentious French appellations.

Chapter III — The South Bay

Geography isthe whole point.

This club doesn’t ship nationwide, and that’s on purpose. Two hundred-plus members who live, work, and gather right here — Manhattan Beach, Hermosa, Redondo, Palos Verdes, El Segundo. The person at the next table at a launch party is, in the most literal sense, your neighbor.

So the club stays intentionally sized, the events stay walkable, and the wine stays an excuse — the good kind — to keep ending up at the same tables together.

The club stays intentionally sized so the experience stays personal. If now isn’t your moment, that’s all right — the patio isn’t going anywhere.
